About CHARRIE

I've been obsessed with photography since I was old enough to hold a camera, point, and shoot.

I’ve built my entire career around one mission: helping people feel seen, celebrated, and confident. After earning my degree from Purdue University and a Master of Public Health from Indiana University School of Medicine, I spent over a decade in public health, epidemiology, nonprofit leadership, and federal grant writing.

But in 2013, I decided to blend my love for women’s health and empowerment with my growing passion for photography—and just like that, Belle Amie Photography was born (now proudly Photog Boss, LLC!). What started as a boudoir-focused brand quickly expanded into weddings, engagements, families, maternity, newborns, events—you name it. By 2018, I went full-time, traded grant deadlines for golden hour, and never looked back.

My photography style is a bold mix of candid storytelling and timeless portraiture—vibrant, true-to-life images that make you feel something. I’ll guide you with just the right amount of posing while bringing all the good vibes, silly energy, and heartfelt encouragement to every session.

I’m fueled daily by my three amazing boys, my three adult bonus kiddos, my rockstar husband, and an endless stream of coffee and creativity. When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me crafting, writing, binging Netflix with my guy, or dancing at a concert. Family is my everything—and capturing yours brings me so much joy.

PHOTOGRAPHY ISN’T JUST WHAT I DO—IT’S WHO I AM.

FROM CAPTURING A COUPLE’S FIRST KISS TO THE LAUGHTER OF A FAMILY REUNION, EVERY SHOT IS A CHANCE TO TELL A UNIQUE STORY. THERE’S NOTHING QUITE LIKE FREEZING A MOMENT IN TIME AND KNOWING IT’S SOMETHING PEOPLE WILL CHERISH FOREVER. FOR ME, IT’S ABOUT MORE THAN JUST THE PERF

Get to know me...

What are my favorite session types?

This is like asking me to pick a favorite child—but if I had to choose… boudoir is definitely at the top. I’m one of the most experienced (and fun!) boudoir photographers in the state, especially for couples. With over 500 sessions under my belt, I’ll have you laughing, vibing, and feeling amazing in your skin—all with the perfect playlist and expert posing guidance.

But weddings? LOVE. THEM. I basically become your hype girl, time-keeper, calming presence, and honorary bridesmaid—all while capturing every laugh, tear, and dance move. Past brides have even called me vital to their day.

I also adore family, senior, maternity, engagement, and headshot sessions—anything where I get to celebrate love, milestones, and real connection. I’ll tickle toddlers, prompt perfect poses, and cheer you on until we get the shot that feelslike you.

P.S. I photograph events, galas, real estate, and even wild concerts (shoutout to the 2019 Pavilion rave)!

Dig a little deeper...

Short answer? I ditched the fear and chased the dream.

From 2013 to 2017, I juggled photography on the side while working in marketing and nonprofit leadership (plus grad school, because why not?). But by baby #3, I realized I was craving more creativity—and in 2018, I made the leap into full-time photography. Best. Decision. Ever.

Now, I wake up pumped to shoot or edit, and I’ve built my dream in-home studio to match the magic. My main space is a 20x24 room with a giant white backdrop, props galore, and gear ready to go. The living room is decked out with couches, a chaise, and a fireplace (hello, cozy sessions!). And the boudoir room? Pure sexy elegance—queen bed, chandelier, and all the “fancy hotel vibes” for those intimate moments.

I’m obsessed with what I do—and it shows.

Oh, I’m Nikon through and through.

My main squeeze is the Nikon Z9, with a Z7 as my trusty backups. I’ve got lenses for days, but my go-tos are the 50mm f/1.4, 35mm, and 70-180mm f/2.8—they’re buttery, sharp, and chef’s kiss every time.

I’m a natural light lover at heart, but I’ve mastered low-light and studio lighting too. Whether it’s golden hour or a pitch-black venue, your photos will be beautifully lit and timeless.

I’ve shot fully manual for over a decade—so yeah, my work went from “she’s got talent” to “Daaaang, she’s a total pro.”

I’m a total believer in “knowledge is power.”

I’m constantly researching, Googling, YouTubing, and diving into all things photography—from lighting and posing to editing hacks and gear upgrades. I’m active in tons of photography Facebook groups and invest in the best tools and software out there.

But honestly? The biggest game-changer has been learning from other amazing photographers across the country. Community over competition, always.

It all started in 2009 with a Nikon D3000, my sweet 2-year-old on New Smyrna Beach, and a very pregnant me just trying to capture a moment. I had no clue what I was doing—hello, auto mode—but something clicked (literally and figuratively). I saw the art in it, even if I had a lot to learn.

Back then, I was juggling a full-time career in public health, writing federal grants, and raising a family. Fast forward to today, and you’ll find me editing weddings at 6am—still in my robe, jamming to music, and smiling at bridesmaids dancing on screen. And instead of chasing government deadlines, I’m chasing golden hour light.

I spent years building a successful career, but it wasn’t until I picked up that camera and took my passion seriously that I felt truly me. And it all began with one little muse—my now 18-year-old son.
